BEQUIA SUNSHINE SCHOOL 20TH ANNUAL CHARITY AUCTION

Sunday 13th February 2011 at Gingerbread Restaurant

The Bequia Sunshine School's annual fund-raising auction is just eight weeks away! It's not too early to start checking in your closets and cupboards and pulling out those “too-good-to-throw-away” items which could be donated to raise money for this incredibly worthy cause.

This year the auction will once again be a stand-alone event, with viewing starting at 11.30am and the Auction itself starting at 1pm sharp. A selection of handicrafts made by the students in their workshop and craft classes will also be on sale, as will refreshments and food donated by local businesses and individuals.

All items donated will be carefully sorted and selected either for the auction or for the massive Jumble Sale which will be held in March. The proceeds from both events go directly towards the running costs of the Bequia Sunshine School for Children with Special Needs, a privately funded institution administered by a local Board of Directors.

The Government supports the school by paying the head teacher's salary plus one other - financing the rest is up to the generosity of others! Last year’s auction totalled around EC$20,000, which together with the Jumble Sale proceeds will have only covered the school's running costs for about six months, so every penny raised is vital to keep the school running.

Items to be donated can be delivered from now onwards, preferably directly to the Sunshine School (located just before the High School on the road to Spring) Monday to Friday 9am - 2pm. An alternative drop-of point is Wallace & Co. Chandlery & Fishing Supplies next to the Port Hole Restaurant.

Please help make this coming auction a huge success. Tell your friends, ask around, help get the donations coming in now!
