Three Parables

The Mustard Seed The Tares (Weeds)The Pearl of Great Price

Bible Lesson: Parables

What is a parable?

A parable is a story. It is

realistic fiction. It is told to

teach a lesson or compare

something, usually just one

important point.

  Matthew 13

He told them another

parable: “The kingdom of

heaven is like a mustard

seed, which a man took

and planted in his field.

Mustard Seed

lovethelordfirst.weebly.com

Though it is the smallest of

all your seeds, yet when it

grows, it is the largest of

garden plants and becomes a

tree, so that the birds of the

air come and perch in its

branches.”

Parable of the Weeds

Jesus told them another parable:

“The kingdom of heaven

is like a man who sowed

good seed in his field. But

while everyone was

sleeping, his enemy came

and sowed weeds among

the wheat, and went away.

When the wheat

sprouted, then the weeds

also appeared.

The owner’s servants said,

‘Sir,

didn’t you sow good seed in

your field?’

Where did the weeds

come from?’ ‘An enemy did

this,’ he answered. The

servants asked him, ‘Do you

want us to go and pull them

up?’

‘No,’ he answered,

‘because while you are

pulling the weeds, you

may root up the wheat

with them.  Let both grow

together until the harvest.

At that time I will tell

the harvesters: First collect

the weeds and tie them in

bundles to be burned; then

gather the wheat and bring

it into my barn.’”

Pearl of Great Price

The kingdom of heaven

is like a merchant looking

for fine pearls.  When he

found one of great value,

he went away and sold

everything he had and

bought it.

Comprehension

Each parable makes one

point about the kingdom of

heaven. Reread the

parables and find what is

being compared. Find that

one important point.

Bible Verse

The people were amazed at

his teaching, because he

taught them as one who had

authority, not as the

teachers of the law. Mark 1:22
