Solidworks & AutoCAD 1
Solidworks:
the choice parametric modeling
software in the industry, and ideally
suited for most 3D printing and CNC
applications.
AutoCAD:
The old guard megalith of
computer design.
Most widely used and
arguably most power-
ful CAD program on
the market.
The two pieces of software most used for the designs
shown herein are Solidworks and AutoCAD
Masters:
Designed entirely in Solidworks, these are
masters for a steampunk (Victorian science
fiction) themed chess set. The initial prototypes were 3D
printed in ABS plastic on an FDM device. The final proofs
were printed using a high resolution stereolithography.
The masters are to be used to produce silicone molds for casting full
sets in plastic, and also white and dark chocolate.

Electric Violin:
Final prototype (unstrung)
Electric Violin conceptual
development and fabrication.
Concept through prototype...
Designed entirely in Solidworks. This version was
produced without the electronics pockets that
would be present in a production model.
The bout and chinrest were CNC milled out of
model board and ABS plastic, respectively.
FDM 3D printing was used to prototype the com-
plex dragon tuning box before it and the neck were
also CNC milled out of solid teak wood. The piece
was finally painted and finished for presentation
using surplus automotive paint and clearcoat to get
a lustrous metallic finish.
Vacuum form
SHIELD Seal (replica of wall mounted seal
from Marvel’s films)
CNC milled base piece created out of
model board.
Final part vacuum formed out of poly-
styrene.
Finishing using enamel base coat and
acrylic drybrush technique to simulate
brushed bronze.

Buckaroo Banzai Motorcycle
Tank
Refurbishing of motorcycle fuel tank using the
motif and paint scheme of the cult sci-fi film
“Buckaroo Banzai” . This is under consideration
to be installed on a show bike to be used at Sci Fi
conventions.

Architectural
Architectural Modeling 8
1:48 scale architectural reproduction of the birthplace of Earl “Curly”
Lambeau, founder of the Green Bay Packers. Originally constructed
in 1868, the house was restored as a historic site around 2008. The
AutoCAD files from that restoration were used to create the model
seen here.
< The actual house in Green Bay
< during the painstaking
process of matching the
aged brick pattern
The brick walls are formed polystyrene, the
siding is individually cut polystyrene strips.
The stone foundation was sculpted by hand,
then molded and cast in epoxy resin.
The fence is laser cut acrylic.
Fob Watch Housing A digitally designed and fabricated pocket watch housing for the Motorola 360 smart watch.
Hockey Sled Custom Redesign
Specially designed sled concept and
scale prototype for sled hockey.
Created for paraplegic athlete
with cerebral palsy.
The specially designed
backrest folds down to form a
ramp so the player can strap
himself for play unassisted.
Conceptual Design
Conceptual Design 9
The initial concept was developed
in Solidworks as an assembly.
Individual parts and drafts
were 3D printed (FDM) in ABS
plastic. Final proof is high
resolution SLA printed.
The final proof, ready for molding. >
Proposed custom design for a home bar and wine holder
Memorial Bench
Original concept picked up and de-
veloped by NWTC students to ulti-
mately be fabricated and installed
as a memorial bench to a deceased
city planner of Green Bay, WI
