Birkenstock shoes have been around since 1774, when Johann Birkenstock registered as a shoemaker.

In 1897, his grandson Konrad, in Germany, created the first curved insole that would fit in your shoe.

Karl, in 1954, joined his grandfather Konrad and later in 1964, he developed the Madrid sandal.

Margot Fraser in 1966 discovered her first pair of Birkenstocks while visiting Germany and was impressed by the fact that they alleviated her foot pain.

Her husband, an importer, helped Margot bring the product to the States. She became the exclusive distributor in the USA.

By the start of the 1980’s, the name Birkenstock became known all over the United States. Birkenstock USA celebrated its 30th year in the country in 1996, boasting of up to 300 color and style combinations of shoes, sandals and clogs.

1999, this company was supplying shoes all over the world.

So many people with foot problems wear only Birkenstocks and find that they are the best for them.

Some of the foot problems alleviated by wearing Birkenstocks are pain in the ball of the foot, toe ailments and sore feet resulting from the wearing improper shoes.
