Bits and Pieces IProblem 2.1 pg.20

Equivalent Fractions and Equal Shares.

Stacey Haslow 2007

Sid is going on a hike, and he is bringing licorice for a snack for himself and 3 friends.

It is 48 inches long. The licorice lace is hard to break, so he needs to cut it part way into equal pieces, so it will be easier to break later.

A.) There are four people all together going on the hike.

How should Sid mark the licorice lace so that each person will have a fair share?

Use Labsheet 2.1. Label the first licorice lace A and mark the cuts. Label one hikers share.
