demonstration and application of techniques, skills, etc.Want to learn more about race and performance? Look at contemporary playwrights in both South Africa and the United States and examine how artists use theatre to challenge notions of race and identity.
Theatre is action – theatre is a conduit for social change!
Read exciting plays and understand how they were presented in production
Seek to understand the intersections between race, gender, and performance
Go on fieldtrips to visit local black theatre companies
Understand histories of African American performance and performance in Africa
Create a performance for the World Theatre Festival at the Downtown Arts Center in April, 2011
