• In March 1910, William E. Boeing bought Heath's shipyard in Seattle on the Duwamish River, which later became his first airplane factory. Boeing was incorporated in Seattle by William Boeing, on July 15, 1916, as "Pacific Aero Products Co".

• It was later incorporated in Delaware, the original Certificate of Incorporation was filed with the Secretary of State of Delaware on July 19, 1934. Boeing, studied at Yale University, worked initially in the timber industry, where he became wealthy and learned about wooden structures.

• This knowledge proved invaluable in his subsequent design and assembly of airplanes. The company stayed in Seattle to take advantage of the local supply of spruce wood.

Strategic airlifting- involves moving material long distances (such as across or off the continent ).

Tactical airlifting- is a military term for the airborne transportation of supplies and equipment within a theatre of operations

Manufacturer Boeing in September 2013 delivered its final C-17 to the Air Force, bring the total over the last 20 years to 223. It has also delivered 34 additional Globemasters to other customers in the UK, India, and elsewhere.

The C-17 commonly performs strategic airlift missions, transporting troops and cargo throughout the world; additional roles include tactical airlift,medical evacuation and airdrop duties.

The Boeing C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft. It was developed for the United States Air Force(USAF) from the 1980s to the early 1990s by McDonnell Douglas. The C-17 carries forward the name of two previous piston-engine military cargo aircraft, the Douglas C-74 Globemaster and the Douglas C-124 Globemaster II.

•There are very few planes of this size that can back up on their own power.

• As c 17 is of large size therefore it becomes imperative for the pilots to fly at low level which is the tactic played by pilot to avoid the radar detection. ( about 300 to 2000 ft above ground).

•The both side doors are opened for droping the paratroops down.They have only 65 seconds to jump down before the c 17 gets higher.
