are equipped to help the community in which we live and God’s love spreads further and further because we are God’s own people.
I am deeply honored to share in life and in ministry with you. I am grate-ful that we are to-gether in the midst of the storm. We can do all things through Christ.
Shalom,
Cindy
Draw near to God, and God will draw
near to you.
-James 4:8
The storm was crazy. I was at church waiting to meet with Youth Group Leaders and Traci was in the sanctuary practicing her music. The power went out. The sky lit up with lightning and the storm raged with rain blowing sideways, trees bending and the wind howling. It was quite a sight. It was awesome and power-ful and oddly enough not scary.
As I waited I listened to Traci sing-ing a beautiful song about God’s peace and she said, “what better place is there to be in the midst of a storm.”
Exactly. God’s house, the tabernacle. The psalmist sang, “I was glad when they said unto me “Let us go in to the house of the Lord.” What better place is there to be than in the church when the storms of life
are raging. Here in the midst of the chaos and troubles of the world we come together to be the body of Christ.
We come to be the church, the Body of Christ, reaching out into the world to bring God’s peace and God’s love.
We come to be the church—God’s sanctuary. When our own storms are raging with family problems and personal challeng-es how wonderful it is to be a part of this car-ing fellowship,
Around the com-munion table our lives are woven together by the love of Christ. I share your hurts and your joys and you share mine.
What better place is there to be in the midst of the storm? We come and lean on each other, strengthen each other and empow-er each other. As we help one another we

This month we will begin preparing for our Stew-ardship Campaign to un-derwrite the mission of this church and our fiscal budget for 2017. I ask each of you pray ear-nestly that our church's needs of time, talent, and treasure be met for this coming year. We have several meaningful programs which could use your leadership, work, and support.
Several members are
utilizing the bill pay sys-tem of their online bank-ing account to send in their offering. If you wish to begin utilizing this feature-just have the check sent to the church's address and put your offering num-ber in the memo line. Please let me know if you plan to make your contributions in this manner so that we will not order you envelopes for 2017. You may email
me at joebancroft@gmail.com.
Thank you for your Stewardship to Christ and his church.

Dear BACC,
The end of July marked the 1 year anniversary of our great-granddaughter Kassidi Stevens being stricken with NMDA Auto-immune Encephalitis, for which no cure is known. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of the individuals and groups in our BACC fami-ly that have offered pray-ers and sent cards during this time of difficulty. May God bless you for your concern.

Dear Cindy,
You did an amazing job with dad’s memorial ser-vice. It was beautiful, special and uplifting. The music, the choir, the con-gregation and readings were such a comfort to us all. I’m sure dad is smil-ing down from heaven. We are all so very grate-ful.
Sincerely Lynn, Carol and Bonnie
Dear BACC,
Thank you so much for
the personalized flash

thoughtfulness and
generosity.

Dear BACC,
Thank you so much for
the graduation present. I
will be sure to use the flash

church is printed on it!

Dear Office Helpers, A special thank you goes out to Jean Turlington, Bar-bara Bancroft, Joe Ban-croft, Gail Macfadden, Ce-celia Andrick, Becky Harvell and Tim Skeens. Volunteers are appreciated and very important in help-ing the office run smoothly. Sincerely, Kelly Edwards
Dear Reverend Stratton, I am awestruck! First, CARITAS has received recognition for a “Top Work-place” award in Richmond’s small business division. Second, we earned the es-teemed certification of Ser-vice Enterprise, by Points of Light. And finally, last week, Carolyn Leung, our Family Shelter Program Manager received Homeward’s Ran-dal Hicks Aware for excel-lence in homeless services. Thank you for entrusting us with your continued support. Something you heard, or saw, or read compelled you to increase your donation and that is worth celebrating. Please stay in touch, come for a tour and let’s keep up the good work together. In Celebration, Karen J. Stanley, CEO

continue to settle into
life in America! They
recently experienced
hail for the first time,
and Ahmed posted pic-
tures of the ice on
Snapchat. During Ram-
adan, the family was
faithful to daily fasting,
eating a small meal at
3:00 AM, then not eat-
ing or drinking again un-
til sunset. They taught
us that Ramadan is a
time of spiritual reflec-
tion and service to oth-
ers. A feast is tradition-
al at the end of Rama-
dan, and Sitina pre-
pared a wonderful meal
of Ethiopian foods for a
few of her Bon Air
friends (see the adjoin-
ing picture).
In August, the family will be moving to an apart-ment near Midlothian Tpk. and Robious Rd. (More information will be coming about the move.) Sitina’s English is improving, and her job search will begin soon, with support from the International Rescue Committee.
The family’s trip to Kings Do-minion with the Youth Group is their first to an amusement park. All who know the fami-ly agree they are a blessing to us! If you have questions, please contact Cathy Law or Shea Hollifield.
