From Mr WillsonMcCormick Families,

TREATS FOR TROOPSAs we prepare to celebrate Veteran's Day and as part of the choose kind movement, we would like to collect donations for our troops currently serving in the Armed Forces. Attached is a list of needed donations. Donations will be collected in homerooms beginning October 29th through November 9th. Suggested items to donate for the troops can be found here: Troop Donation Items

MCLUNCHEONOn Thursday, October 25th, 17 students were recognized for overall academic achievement, academic growth, and/or an educational accomplishment. Students enjoyed a pizza lunch with their nominating teacher(s) and me. During the luncheon, students received a certificate, which was read to the group, detailing why they were being recognized. Congratulations to the following students:Kindergarten: Kylea Singleton & Andrew Vannis1st Grade: Brooklyn Sparks & Harper Kukucka2nd Grade: Caitlin Brunsman & Abe Tengler3rd Grade: Camdyn Plunkett & Abby Littrell4th Grade: Anna Gray & Luke Witte5th Grade: Kenzie Kramer & Gavin Vaughn6th Grade: Breann Ducheny, Jillian Kuhn, Kaitlyn McCann, Blake Borcoman, & Luke Dowers

LUNCH WITH STUDENTSParents/Legal Guardians are welcome to join their child(ren) for lunch. If another family member is on your child’s authorized Emergency Medical list in Final Forms, they may also visit for lunch. For any parent or family member planning to eat lunch with a student, please notify the office to set up a “reservation”, 24 hours in advance, as seating may be limited. We ask that you enjoy lunch with your child at the tables marked “Students with Visitors,” not the assigned homeroom table. Family members may not accompany children to recess or other parts of the building. As always, a state issued identification card is required to enter the building. Also, lunch is limited to adults/school aged children.

FIRE LANEThe Miami Township Fire Department recently visited the school. During the visit, I was asked to remind parents to refrain from parking in the fire lane at all times. Please park in a designated space when visiting or picking up your child(ren).

Make it a great weekend,Mr. Willson

McCormick Elementary is partnering with Marco's pizza, on the 1st Wednesday of each month, Marco's will be giving back 20% of their profits to McCormick. Be sure to tell them you are with McCormick when ordering. Please consider ordering and support McCormick PTO! The next date will be Wednesday, November 7th. The class with the most orders wins a pizza party.

PBIS-October UpdateMcCormick students are continuing to embrace our Eagle Expectations! They are showing respect, responsibility, safety and kindness around the building. Over the past month, we have been focusing our learning and our expectations around technology, classroom, hallway, and the cafeteria. Each of the grade levels are doing a variety of activities to practice and model our expectations.

Around the school you will see many PBIS activities displayed. Kindness cartoons are spread throughout the school, and were drawn so students could illustrate ways that kindness could be shown with characters, actions, and simple messages. Many students also found kind notes on their lockers. This awesome gesture was done by students that felt positive support would be an exciting way to let someone know they believed in them. Doughnuts were also around the school with kind messages after reading Sprinkling Kindness. Continue to ask your child about PBIS and how they are showing our Eagle Expectations.

A big thank you again for supporting McCormick PTO and helping to make McCormickFest

2018 a success! Thanks to everyone who volunteered and

helped to make this event a success. The final numbers are just about

in- we raised over $34000 between our supportive corporate sponsors,

student fundraising, race registrations, t-shirt sales,

wristband sales, and ticket sales at the festival! Our expenses were

approximately $8000. This event raised about $26,000 for

McCormick Elementary. Thank you, once again, for helping to make this

event successful.
