3 bookmobilesproviding and developing library services
for people with special needs throughoutthe 9 districts of Lyon
* small convenient vehicules instead of huge trucks since the nineties
* each for one purpose :- urban regular service (replacement in 2008)- schools and nurseries (renewal in 2013)
- retirement homes and health centers (coming in 2015)
* but each related to the overall orientation of the Outreach services i.e. increasing social inclusion « in and out »

The new « J’bus » (J for jeunesse, French word for « Youth »)
• a one year project from the drafts to the first use• space, light, warm atmosphere and color• dedicated to children but also for everyone• multimedia and digital equipments• less books and documents, wider choices and
human interactions• a living – reading room, expanding outside• regular service for childcare centers and
preschools (about 120 in Lyon) but also usedfor any other cultural events…

• 12 stops every two weeks• a lending service, but also a meeting
place, offering cultural and educationalactivities
