FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What are my bold courses?

A: When we refer to bold courses we are referring to the courses you are required to complete before you can enroll in your professional phase courses. You can find these on page 3 of your degree plan packet.

Q: What is professional phase?

A: Professional phase is a term we use in HLKN to refer to your upper level coursework. All SPMT students must complete SPMT 333, 421, 422, 423 & 482 as part of their professional phase requirements. Students that are accepted into the Applied option will also take SPMT 402 & 484.

Q: Which option should I choose for professional phase? And when should I apply?

A: This is entirely dependent on the individual student and their career goals. One option is not better or worse than they other, they just require different coursework to graduate. We encourage students to apply as early as they are able. The applied option requires an application and approval by faculty, while the interdisciplinary only requires a declaration form.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Can I switch to the two minor option?

A: We get this question frequently. This is in reference to an older catalog and is not an option for anyone enrolling in Fall 2019.

Q: Why will it not let me enroll in (insert business minor course here)?

A: This is the most frequent question we receive during registration. Many of our majors will pursue a business minor which requires 18 hours of mostly online courses. Each business minor course has 2 types of sections: 1 for USBU majors and 1 for non-BUSI majors.

Q: What courses should I take?

A: We are happy to assist you with planning courses or giving feedback on courses that you are planning to take. However, we will not create your schedule for you. This is your degree and you need to be sure you are keeping up with it and know what courses you have taken and what you still have left.
