Bring Your Own Device InitiativeDr. Laura SpencerCoordinator of Instructional Technology

K–12 students are now some of the most enthusiastic and savvy users of state-of-the-art mobile computing devices

What is BYOD? Rather than telling students to leave

their devices at home, BYOD allows students to use the technology with which they feel most comfortable — namely, their own notebooks, tablets and smartphones — in class.

Variant of a 1:1 program

Research Supports It 85% of parents (and 90% of K-2 parents)

agree that mobiles and apps can make learning fun.

77% agree that they promote curiosity. 74% agree that they help their child

know local and global current events. 63% agree that they teach problem-

solving.
