National Championship Show Day Tickets are available to Non-Members at £20 per Day; you will need one Day Ticket for each day.
A Day Ticket is temporary Membership for the Horse, Owner and Rider for the day; they may not be used for
HOYS qualifying or Classic Supreme classes.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
1. The show is run in accordance with the British Show Horse Association Rules for 2019.
2. No responsibility will be accepted by the Organisers for any loss, damage, illness or injury sustained by the Exhibitors and/or Riders or their Horses. Entries are accepted on this basis.
3. Classes will not run ahead of schedule but large entries might cause some classes to over-run.
4. HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW CLASSES: Entries in these classes 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50 & 51 inclusive, are confined to Registered Horses owned, produced and ridden by Members of the Association. These classes are qualifiers for the Hack, Cob, Maxi Cob and Riding
Horse classes at the Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 2nd – 6th October 2019. The qualification at this
Show is a “Golden Ticket (Opportunity)” - if the first has already qualified, the second will qualify. If the first and second have already qualified the third will go forward and so on irrespective, to the next unqualified horse. ALL COMPETITORS QUALIFYING FOR Horse of the Year Show 2019 MUST COMPLETE THEIR ENTRY FORM AND POST ASAP to GRANDSTAND MEDIA. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from "www.hoys.co.uk". Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office.
5. A Horse of the Year Show official entry form MUST be submitted, FULLY COMPLETED, together with the BSHA Show entry form and payment. Failure to include the form will result in the entry being returned. This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of these classes is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. The form can be downloaded from the Show website or from the Horse of the Year Show website.
6. GROOMS:
In classes where Grooms are permitted to enter the Ring during judging, they must be dressed correctly dressed of smart appearance (no jeans or denim) and wearing headwear.
7. CLASSIC SUPREME CLASSES: Entries in the Classic Supreme classes 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & 15 inclusive, are only open to registered Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses, owned and ridden by Members, that have been placed first, second or third in an Open class at an Affiliated Show held in 2019.
8. ANGLO & PART BRED CLASSES: The Anglo and Part Bred Arab classes 124 - 127 are open to Non-Members of the Association, Horses do not have to qualify, but must be registered with the Arab Horse Society.
9. NOVICE CLASSES: Novice classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 20 & 29 inclusive are open to registered Hacks, Cobs, Maxi Cobs and Riding Horses which have not won a first prize of £35 or more, or more than a total of £250, including Championship Prize Money, in any classes which were affiliated to the Association, at home or abroad, prior to the 1st January in the current year. Winnings gained as a four year old are excepted unless that four year old has won an Open ridden class. A Novice may be shown in a snaffle bridle.
10. The Organisers reserve the right to make alterations to the published timetable, cancel any class if there are insufficient entries, or to amend the conditions of any class at their absolute discretion. If entries are large it may be necessary to arrange preliminary judging.
11. REFUND OF ENTRIES: REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN UNLESS A VETERINARY OR DOCTORS CERTIFICATE IS PRODUCED. ALL REQUESTS FOR REFUNDS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE OFFICE WITHIN 7 WORKING DAYS AFTER THE SHOW. ALL CERTIFICATES/PAPERWORK MUST BE RECEIVED WITHIN 14 WORKING DAYS AFTER THE SHOW. PLEASE NOTE A £15 ADMINISTRATION FEE WILL BE RETAINED BY THE BSHA FOR ADMINISTRATON PURPOSES.
Horse of the Year Show levies will not be refunded as they are payable on entries received.
There will be no refunds for clashes or missed classes.
12. STABLING: BOOKINGS ARE DIRECT WITH ADDINGTON MANOR.
13. PRIZE MONEY: Prize money will be posted after the Show.
14. DOPE TESTING: Please note all Horses on the Showground may be required to be dope tested and testing will be via blood or urine samples.
15. DOGS: Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and are only allowed in the car and lorry parks. Dogs are not allowed in the competition or public areas, main building, cafeteria or stable barn.
16. COMPLAINTS: Any objection or complaint must be made in writing and signed (no anonymous complaints will be actioned) and submitted to the Disciplinary Steward or Secretary on the day of the Incident.
17. RULES FOR STYLE AND OBEDIENCE
STYLE AND OBEDIENCE: - The class consists of a ‘Style’ phase (jumping round) and an ‘Obedience’ phase (test performed on the flat). In each phase it is not the difficulty or height which is under scrutiny, but the style and obedience with which each phase is undertaken by Horse and Rider. Each phase of the class will be awarded marks. The winner is the Exhibit with the highest combined total of marks.
Phase 1 – Style (The Broadband and Phones Ring) The course will consist of 8 jumps in an enclosed arena. Height of fences: Open - Min: 2’3”, Max: 2’6”, Maximum spread: 2’6” Each jump is awarded a mark out of ten for approach, bascule, style and rhythm. Maximum score 80 for the jumping phase. There will be a ‘comments’ section at the end of the sheet for any additional information the Judge may think of use to the competitor to aid improvement.
Phase 2 – Obedience The aim of the obedience phase is to combine a flowing test with rhythm, softness and responsiveness of the horse, whilst making the correct shapes and showing the horse in the best possible manner, as though in the show ring. Please present yourselves at the Ring next door after you have jumped in Phase 1.
Short flat test to include the following movements: a) Walk on a long rein b) Twenty meter circle in trot on each rein c) Rein Back d) Halt for 3 seconds at X at the beginning and end of the test e) Canter 3 loop serpentine with simple change of lead through trot f) Extension in canter
Test not to exceed 2 minutes. Each movement will be awarded a mark out of ten and half marks may also be used where appropriate by the Judge. There will be space next to each mark for any additional comments the Judge may wish to make, which he/she may feel of benefit to the Horse and Rider. 18. RULES FOR BSHA INTRO CLASSES
PLEASE ENTER THESE CLASSES IN THE SPIRIT FOR WHICH THEY ARE INTENDED
• Open to First Year Members (2019) of the BSHA and Non-Members
• Horses & Riders DO NOT have to be members of the BSHA to enter the BSHA Intro Classes.
• Riders MUST not have competed at HOYS within the last 5 years with the exception of Search for a Star.
• Open to horse & rider combination not to have won a total of £200 in showing classes.
• Horses MUST be stabled at home, DIY or in a non-showing yard.
• Horses to be ridden by an Amateur as per the BSHA definition.
• No professional producers are allowed into the Ring, or work the horse on the day of competition.
19. RULES FOR BSHA GRASS ROOTS CHAMPIONHIP
PLEASE ENTER THIS CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE SPIRIT FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED

Open to those Horses having qualified at the BSHA Southern Spring Show, other "Qualifying Shows" or hold a TSR Qualification card and are eligible under the following rules:
• Riders & Horses DO NOT have to be members of the BSHA to enter the Grass Roots Championships.
• Riders MUST not have competed at HOYS within the last 5 years with the exception of Search for a Star.
• Open to horse & rider combination not to have won a total of £200 in showing classes.
• Horses MUST be stabled at home, DIY or in a non showing yard.
• Horses to be ridden by an Amateur as per the BSHA definition.
• Riders will receive feedback from the judges.
• No professional producers are allowed into the Ring.
Special Awards: TSR Sashes to the highest placed TSR Member. Special rosettes to the highest placed BRC Member Exhibitors competing in Class 42 and who are not Members of the BSHA, can compete in other classes i.e. Amateur Home Produced, Restricted etc. on the purchase of a BSHA Day Ticket; you do not require a Day Ticket if only competing in Class 42 The BSHA Grass Roots Championship.

Class 16 THE BARHAM CLASSICAL LADIES SIDE SADDLE**
Open to SSA Adult Members and Non-members, aged 18 and over on January 1st of the current year, riding side saddle, on horses exceeding 148cm (14.2hh). To be judged 25% conformation, 25% manners and way of going, 25% rider and 25% turnout of Horse and Rider. Judges may request a short show but will not ride. Traditional habits must be worn. Fancy Dress and Period Costumes are not permitted. A Special rosette will be awarded to the highest placed Member of the S.S.A, carrying their current Championship Points Card. The highest placed Horse/Rider combination qualifies for the final to be held at the 2020 National Side Saddle Show and the Broadband & Phones Systems Ladies Final at the BSHA National Championships 2019 (class 55). In the event of previous qualification, this may be passed down to fourth place. Qualifying combinations are required to become Full Members of the S.S.A 21 days prior to the SSA National Show to be eligible to compete at the Final. The following is a qualifier for the Cuddy Supreme In-Hand Championship, N.E.C., Birmingham, 2nd – 6th October 2019. The objective of the competition is to find the Supreme Light Horse or Pony In-Hand Champion of the Year, irrespective of breed or type (excluding heavy horses). The Champion horse or pony from the following classes will be eligible to compete, provided it has not already won a qualifying round in 2019.
