TRANSCRIPT

The purpose of theTexas Literacy Initiative (TLI)

grant is to improve school readiness and success in the areas of language

and literacy for disadvantaged students in targeted school districts, including their associated ECE providers, who

will use the model of Literacy Lines to implement the Texas State Literacy Plan

(TSLP).

1. Increase the oral language and preliteracy skills of participating preschool children.

2. Improve the performance of participating K-2 students on early reading assessments.

3. Increase the percentage of participating students who meet or exceed proficiency on the state English language arts assessments in grades 3 through 12.

4. Increase the use of data and data analysis to inform all decision making in participating districts, campuses, classrooms, and early learning settings.

5. Increase the implementation of effective literacy instruction through Literacy Lines.

Age 0 – School Entry: Increase ComprehensionandFluencybydevelopingorallanguageinAge0toSchoolEntrychildrensothat90%ofstudentsaresuccessfulasmeasuredontheLAP3/CPALLSatEnd-Of-Year.

Grades K – 2: Increase Listening Comprehension(GradeK)andComprehensionandFluencyofallstudentsinGrades1–2by20%asmeasuredontheTPRIandTejasLEEbyEnd-Of-Year.Thiswillensurethatstudentsmeetthe90%goalasmeasuredbyTPRI&TejasLEE.

Grades 3 – 5:IncreaseFluencyofallstudentsinGrades3–5by20%asmeasuredontheTPRI,TejasLEEatEnd-Of-Yearand state adopted materials. Increase ComprehensionandFluencyofallstudentsinGrades3–5by20%asmeasuredonitemsassessingFigure19onthe2014STAARassessment.

Grades 6 – 8:Increasethenumberofstudentswhoachievemasterysothat70%ofstudents increase in Comprehension in order tomeetAdequateYearlyProgress(AYP)andmonitorstudentprogress/performanceandclose the gap as measured on items assessing Figure19onthe2014STAARassessment.

Grades 9 – 12:Increasethenumberofstudents who achieve mastery of inferring sothat70%ofstudentsaresuccessfulasmeasuredonitemsassessingFigure19,RC(B)onthe2014STAAR/EOCassessment.This will ensure that students meet Adequate YearlyProgress(AYP).
