Building a Parachute Procedure 1. Take πr2 to find the desired area of your parachute. 2. Use cm. side of meter stick and use string to correct the circumference.
3. Mark by use permanent marker.
4. Put string in circle and trace string in a
circle. 5. Repeat 1-4 for desired parachute #’s.
6. Cut out the circles. 7. Measure thread 25cm. three strings for
each parchute. 8. Repeat for as many parchutes as you have.
9. Tape the 3 strings around the outside
of the parachute.
10. Pepeat to other parachutes. 11. Tie your weight (fireman) to the 3
strings.
12. Grab parachute by the top of the canopy. 13. Climb up to a dropping distance of 2.5 meters.
14. Drop the parachute.
15. Start the timer directy after the parachute is released. 16. Stop the timer when the parachute hits the ground. 17. Record the data after every trial.
