The customized gas dosing controller for flame cutters includes a fluidic block with integrated valve

seats, four proportional valves, two shut-off valves, six pressure transducers to measure the input and

output pressure as well as a box which accommodates the electronic components for an analogue PID

control of gas flows for the cutting process. Communication with the gas box is possible via CAN bus or

DeviceNet protocol. Pulse width modulated correcting signals operate the proportional valves internally.

Common gas burner control:

A combustion gas (e.g. methane, acetylene or

hydrogen) is mixed with an oxidizing gas.

Depending on the proportions of each gas,

various flames (economy, pilot or main flame)

can be adjusted. A stable and reproducible

flame is created by the MFCs.

Humidity control loop for hydrogen : The PEM membrane that seperates the hydrogen from the oxygen side, has to be

conductive for protons. .

Depending on the kind of the membrane that is used, it has to be kept humid to maintain the

”proton conductance” and therefore the function of the whole fuel cell.

PRESSURE CONTROL LOOP

Pressure control loop for hydrogen : High performance fuel cells (like are used in vehicles) are run pressurized on both sides, the

hydrogen and oxygen gas side. Because of the membrane system (and the mechanical

design of the cells - big surfaces) the pressures on both sides of the system have to be

roughly the same.
