0800 Please assemble at the tent east of the clubhouse where
coffee and tea will be served.
0830-0930 Buffet style breakfast service (seating is not assigned).
0945 Commodore, Flag Officers, Treasurer, Secretary and
their spouses (“the Flag Party”) to assemble in the
clubhouse. Past Commodores to assemble in the
clubhouse. Members to assemble in front of the dias in
provided chairs (chairs not assigned).
0955 1st Pipers procession begins.
1000 The Vice Commodore will ask, “Would the assembly
please stand”.
Vice Commodore orders “Ship Companies come to Attention”.
Singing of National Anthem. Led by Kate Lerner
Juniors slowly raise the Canadian Ensign during the singing of “O
Canada”. All personnel in uniform salute. At the end of the singing, the
Club burgee and Commodore’s flag are raised.

Vice Commodore orders “Ships Company - Stand Easy! Please be
seated”.
Vice Commodore welcomes members and guests. He then introduces
dignitaries and Past Commodores.

Call upon Jr. Vice Commodore Audrey Steinke to present flowers to
Jr. Commodore Chelsea Taylor
Commodore acknowledges Past Commodores, Directors and Junior
Bridge, committee chairs. Makes a speech.
Commodore addresses members and declares the Boating Season open.
Vice Commodore orders “Would assembly please stand. Ships
Companies- Caps Off!”
Vice Commodore calls for a Moment of Silence for deceased past
members – read out.

Vice Commodore orders “Ships Company- Caps On!”- Please be
seated.
1045 Fleet Captain Bill Iversen presents the orders of the Day
1050 Vice Commodore announces the end of the ceremony and
invites Members and Guests to proceed to their vessels
and prepare to take part in the Sailpast to be held the area
off Waterfront Park East of the Club.

Pipers procession begins. The Flag Party, followed by
the Past Commodores and their spouses, leave the
clubhouse walk behind the Piper from the clubhouse
down “A” dock and back, then down “B” dock and back.
Members fall in behind the Flag Party and proceed to
their vessels
**reminder for members to pre plan lunch/ snacks for
you and your guests**
Start of Sailpast
1115 Commodore leaves to anchor M/V “Stargazer” off
Waterfront Park, Vancouver Harbour. Turn boats depart to
anchor.
1130 “BLUE” Heritage & Sailing vessels leave for the staging
area.
1145 “RED” Displacement hulls to leave for the staging area.
1200 “WHITE” Planing hulls to leave for the staging area.
1230 Proceed through to salute Commodore. Boats to follow at a
distance of 11/2 boat lengths, starting with Past
Commodore Frank Plumptre’s boat “M/V Blue Horizons”.
Watch for the Seabus and monitor VHF 69 to follow
instructions from club patrol boat. Upon completion of
Salute you are instructed to either:
1. Proceed East of Vancouver Drydock and not return to the
club until an all clear is broadcast at approximately 1300
from the club patrol boat. Note: No additional Sailpast
proceedings will occur at the club
2. Proceed East of Vancouver Drydock and continue to
Clementine Outstation where light fare will be served.
For those who responded to the Evite invitation
Clementine Dockmaster will be on VHF 69. Music
provided by “Relish”.
Note: Slack water at 2nd
Narrows is approx. 1300 then
turn to flood.

salute.

COMMUNICATIONS
Very Important that ALL vessels standby on VHF 69 and transmit
on 1 watt only. Directions will be given for safe passage past the
Seabus area by one of the three patrol boats. Patrol boats will also
monitor VHF 68 for assistance.
FLEET ORDERS – Read by Fleet Captain Bill Iverson
After the ceremonies, please prepare to proceed to the staging area
in the following manner. Heritage and Sailing vessels (BLUE)
should depart and proceed to the staging area at 1130, followed by
Displacement Power vessels (RED) at 1145, followed by Planning
Power vessels (WHITE) at 1200. All groups should group in the
three areas marked on the chart as follows.
BLUE - Heritage and Sailboats: Led by Vice Commodore Rob
Stokes onboard “M/V Current Affair” displaying the BLUE
flag
RED - Displacement Powerboats: Led by Rear Commodore
David Gagnon onboard “M/V Knot Online” displaying the
RED flag
WHITE - Planing powerboats: Led by Outstation Director
Tony Read onboard “M/V Southern Belle” displaying the
WHITE flag
FORMATION
All vessels to travel in a single line, at dead slow speed
maintaining approximately 10 meters or 1 1/2 boat lengths
between vessels.
Beginning at 1230 the formation led by the Past Commodore
vessel “M/V Blue Horizons” will proceed past the Commodore in
the order BLUE, RED then WHITE with all vessels following
their group lead boat.
The formation will follow the course marked on the chart in a
Southerly heading to round on the West side of the turnabout “S/V
Felice Bear” then a Northerly heading passing West of the Staff
Captain on “M/V Escape”, then passing the Commodore on your
starboard side. The Commodore will be anchored off of Waterfront
Park.
SALUTE
Hold your position in a single line and as your vessel’s bow comes
in line with the stern of the Commodore’s vessel, the crew should
come to attention facing the Commodore. Lower your ensign.
Only the skipper salutes, holding the salute until the commodore’s
ensign is raised and the salute is returned. The crew then stands
easy and the vessel proceeds in a line until well clear of the saluting
area.

DISPERSAL AND (CLEMENTINE) CELEBRATIONS
After the formal salute to the Commodore, all vessels MUST
proceed east past Vancouver dry-dock. As all vessels will pass
through the Seabus traffic area, directions from the BYC patrol boat
MUST be followed. Some vessels may be required to change course
to the south to permit safe passage for the Seabus. After vessels
have passed the Vancouver dry-dock they are permitted to disperse.
BUT ARE NOT PERMITTED TO RETURN TO BURRARD
YACHT CLUB UNTIL ALL VESSELS HAVE PROCEEDED
PAST THE COMMODORE AND THE ALL CLEAR HAS BEEN
ANNOUNCED FROM THE CLUB PATROL BOAT
APPROXIMATELY 1300 HRS. Note that no additional ceremony
will be occurring at the club
For all those who are continuing to Clementine outstation, please
make your way remembering the no-wake zone between Roche Pt
and the northern tip of Racoon Island. Clementine Dockmaster will
be on VHF 69
**Light fare and ale will be provided at Clementine. Please bring
your own plates, cutlery and glasses.**
