Shakespeare’s Education

- At the age of 4 he started “petty” school, where he learned to read and write English.

- After he went to a lower form of grammar school, where he began serious studies in Latin and texts.

- Records have not been found, so there is no proof that Shakespeare attended the lower grammar school

- This is where he began his writing.- Research shows that he also attended

grammar school.

Family Life

- Married Anne Hathaway at age 18 in 1582

- He had a daughter in 1583 named Susanna

- Following his daughter he had twin boys named Judith and Hamnet (1585)

Success in London

ROMEO AND JULIET

- By 1592 he became famous for his acting and playwrights

Narrative Poems

- By 1593 Shakespeare became a published poet.

- He published his first narrative poem titled Venus and Adonis.

- Following that he also published The Rape of Lucrece

Theatrical Careers

- Wrote Romeo and Juliet in the 1590’s- Wrote most of his theatrical plays during

the 1590’s- Most of his career spanned a 20 year

time period- Most of his works were based off of

English history

The Globe Years

- By 1599 Shakespeare’s company built their own theater in London named the Globe.

- Most of Shakespeare’s famous plays were performed at this theater as well as in the king’s palace.

- In 1613 the Globe caught fire and burned to the ground.

The Final Years

- His son Hamnet died in 1596- By 1599 documents show Shakespeare

was very wealthy with a lot of land- William Shakespeare died on April 23,

1616 - Shortly after many more of his poems

and sonnets were discovered and later published.

An Expanse of Age

-Shakespeare lived in London from early 1590’s-1610-His plays are put together in terms of what went through when he lived in London -His works were influenced by the rural areas of England, the metropolitain areas of London, the world of the theater, and the small-towns.

Shakespeare’s Story

- In business papers it is found that Shakespeare was a famous actor and wealthy landowner.-Through his writings it can also be determined that he lived in London and Stratford.-Shakespeare was thought to be a legend until the late 1800s. -Stories and myths were made up about him, such as he died from drinking too hard with fellow poets, he was demanded by the queen to write a love story in 14 days, and he barely knew how to read and his natural talent is what made his writing famous.
