study?By Miss O.

1. Find a quiet place.

2. Set the timer for 10 minute increments.

After you have “studied” for 10 minutes, take a 5 minute break to rest your mind and then set the timer again to do another 10 minutes.

3. Get your materials out.

The pages of the VA Studies notebook covering the topic that the quiz or test will be over.

What do I study?

Look for key words, ideas, maps, and pictures.

Review by looking back.

Remember the main things about what Miss O. taught us.

Ask yourself: What was this about?

DON’T HIGHLIGHT EVERYTHING. Only highlight the key words.

Highlight while looking back.

Cover up the labels on maps.

Cover up parts of the notes for recall.

On note cards or notebook paper.

Draw a picture nearby to remind you of the idea.

Write it again.

Teach it to an imaginary class.

Make a song or rap out of it.

Funky ways to remember order or a long name like: My Wacky Kids Talk Non-stop

Find mnemonic devices or hand motions to help you.

Make flashcards.

Use Miss O.’s foldables, games, etc. to help you!
