What is it?
The legislative branch is one of three main branches of our government in America.
The other two branches are called the Executive and Judicial branches.
What does it do?
The Legislative Branch’s main job is to make laws for the country.

Where and when do they meet?
They meet in the U.S. Capitol Building, which is located in our nations capitol: Washington DC.
They start their meetings on the third day of January every odd numbered year.
How is Congress divided? The house of representatives
is one of the two branches. The number of
representatives is based on the population of the certain state.
There are 435 representatives in the house of representatives.

The other branch is called the senate
In this branch there are two senators per state regardless of the population of the state.
So that means that there is 100 senators total

Qualifications to be in congress
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
THE SENATE
Must be at least 25 years old
Must be a U.S. citizen for at least 7 years
They must live in the state that they are representing
Must be at least 30 years old
Must be a citizen for at least 9 years
They must live in the state that they represent
