Cockpit Layout
Overhead Panel – Control aircraft system like air conditioning / electrical / Hydraulics etc.
Autopilot Control (Mode Control Panel) – input command into autopilot system
Flight Instrument – Indications + EICAS / ECAM
Control Column – to control aircraft’s control surfaces
Power – Included Throttle / Flaps or Spoilers control

Conventional Cockpit- Conventional Cockpit only have
round-dial analog gauges
- Crew always have to monitor gauges very closely
- Crew have to consume lot of time to find out fault when problem occurred
- Limited expanding ability
- High life cycle cost

1st Generation Glass Cockpit- Also known as semi glass cockpit
as the formation of cockpit is CRT display + Conventional Gauges
- Flight instruments were merged into Flight Computers, warning / caution msg will be directly displayed
= Improved Situation Awareness
-Basic instruments were duplicated due to doubt of CRT’s reliability expect EICAS
- Great contribution to maint work as maint crew can run self test and check aircraft heath status simply.

2nd Generation Glass Cockpit- No conventional round dial
gauges left besides CRT / LCD display
- Different function simply divided to different display
- Usually have 6 switchable display unit (DU)
