BEST SPRINGTIME FLOWERS CALIPER FARMS NURSERY

Every gardener makes a list of spring flowers during thedark days of winter, and looks forward eagerly to the first

burst of spring color. Spring arrives at different timesdepending on where you live, but the sequence of blooms issimilar in most places. With that in mind, watch for thesefavorites in your own garden or in the garden next door:

PANSY -- Pansies are one of the earliest flowering plants, blooming right alongside the spring bulbs.

SNOWDROP ANEMONE-- Snowdrop anemone is a perennial plant flowering in

spring, native to meadows and dry deciduous woodlands

LILAC--Lilacs bloom for only a very brief couple of weeks in thespring. To prolong their presence in your yard, grow a

variety of Lilacs, including, early, mid and late varieties.

'Grand Maitre' Crocus--Blooming towards early spring, these cupped petals open just enoughto reveal the splendid yellow of the stamen creating a striking accent.

BLUESTAR--These flowers bloom vigorously, forming a dense mound of dark green leaves that turn a brilliant

yellow in the fall. Vivid dark lavender flowers appear in early spring for a wonderful show.

DAFFODIL--Their flowers come in a range of colors like yellowand white and havecontrasting cups of orange or pink and a variety of shapes and sizes.

Planted in a sunny location where the soil drains well, most daffodils willcome back year-after-year.

of a hot, sunny border.
