Defensive Line Philosophy

A. ATTACK then React to keysB. Create a new LOS: No. 1 job!C. Force the double teamD. Keep shoulders square and butt in the holeE. Maintain leverageG. Take proper pursuit anglesH. Hustle to the ballI. Win on every play

BASIC FRONT FUNDAMENTALS

A. Reads 1. Quick Read: Pressure of block 2. Second Read: Flow of BallB. Attacking Out of Stance 1. First step is a drive step trying to knock man off the ball 2. Second step is a lift step gaining separation-running feet 3. 0 technique get pec-pec 4. Shaded techniques and 4 tech. get inside hand on pec and outside hand on cuff-maintain leverage

BLOCK REACTION

A. Base/Turn Out Block 1. Fight pressure by running feet 2. Squeeze blocker in the hole and keep shoulders square 3. As ball is picked up, cross block and fill

B. Veer Block 1. Drive blocker completely down keeping shoulders square looking for dive or trap a. if dive occurs, attack dive with head across b. Trap occurs, trap the trapper with inside shoulder. Wrong arm only if we are beat

C. Double Team-2 Methods 1. Drop pressure side shoulder and seat roll across the line into the pressure. Regain feet as soon as possible 2. Rip into the pressure and try to split blockers. Play low and run feet.

D. Reach Block 1. Fight to maintain leverage by pushing with outside arm and pulling with inside arm. 2. Rip through offenders head and get up field

E. Slant/Pinch Technique 1. Step with nearest foot first-aiming point is ½ deep through near lineman's hip 2. Dip shoulder and rip arm through-knuckles should scrap ground 3. Keep eyes on ball level and maintain plane
