Portfolio 2007 / 2013 Carles Esquerra Julià

The same way I believe that learning doesn't have a beginning and an end, but it's constant during all your live, I think that a project doesn't ends when it's handed, it is always evolving, even once it is built it's still changing, are phases, stages during the project that gives it a certain character.

this process is what I want to show in this Portfolio, the this process is what I want to show in this Portfolio, the different stages of the projects I had developed, and also the different stages I have suffered during my academic development to go make me a better architect

I don't wanna sell a specific project, but a way of working, a point of view, the values that I think the architecture needs.

Extracted text from project: “contemporary city” - a reflection on the book of Rem Koolhaas

The modern city rises from the idea of the present, forgetting the past to conquer the future, it gets from growth, from verticality, from change.

By breaking with the past also breaks with the vision that the city has of herself, it breaks the ties and buildings become orphans of content.

The city turns into a colossal sculpture museum, each The city turns into a colossal sculpture museum, each building is seeking his own role in a ruthless competition.

In the end the only thing left are the remains that has no relation to where they came from, just a memory of a city that never was.
