Singing in Uni-tyTHE Xmas factor arrived at theUniversity of Bedfordshire as itstaged its Carols by Candlelight.

More than 300 staff, students andthe public attended the UniversityChristmas Service at St Mary'sParish Church in Luton on Thursdaynight, December 10.

The musical accompaniment wassupplied by the University of

Bedfordshire Choir along with theChristian Union Choir and theChinese Student Fellowship Choir,pictured above, who sang AmazingGrace - in Chinese!

The university's vice chancellor,Professor Les Ebdon CBE, was one ofthose to give a reading.

More than t330 was raised for theREAD International Book Project,which aims to promote literacy inseveral Third World countries bysending used books to schoolchildrenin either Tanzania or Uganda.

The chaplain at the Luton campus,Rev Andrew Goodman, said: "It's awonderful occasion which bringseveryone together.

"For me, it's the start ofChristmas and I'd like to wisheveryone a very happy Christmas onbehalf of the Tree House team andthe university."
