Case Study - May 2011. Bespoke Library
Brief: Contemporary bespoke library that utilises the space between the roof beams without distracting from them.
To visually work within the narrow floor space.
To be made from high quality solid timber.
To function well with good access to books at all heights.
To not restrict access through the room when the library ladder isn't being used.
To match existing paint work in the new extension.
Stage 1. Provided a ‘ball park figure’.
Stage 2. Carried out a site visit to measure up and provide a detailed written quotation and specification.
Stage 3. Client paid a 1/3rd deposit.
Stage 4. Design drawings commenced and emailed to client for discussion.
Stage 5. Some design alterations suggested and amended drawings provided.
Stage 6. Design agreed. Materials ordered.
Stage 7. Manufacturing commences.
Stage 8. 2nd payment of 1/3rd due halfway through manufacturing. Images of progress emailed to client.
Stage 9. Installation date arranged and library fitted. Usually takes one to two days depending on size of projects.
Stage 10. Balance of 1/3rd due on the day of installation.
