TRANSCRIPT
This catalogue : (2nd version, updated November 3, 2011),compiled by the Phantoms Foundation (coordinator ofthe Spanish Nanotechnology action plan funded byICEX), provides a general overview of the Nanoscienceand Nanotechnology companies (78) in Spain and inparticular the importance of this market research,product development, etc. Note: only those contacted companies which providedtheir details are listed.
The Phantoms Foundation based in Madrid, Spain,focuses its activities on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology(N&N) and is now a key actor in structuring and fosteringEuropean Excellence and enhancing collaborations inthese fields. The Phantoms Foundation, a non-profitorganisation, gives high level management profile toNational and European scientific projects (among others,the COST Bio-Inspired nanotechnologies, ICT-FETIntegrated Project AtMol, ICT/FET nanoICTCoordination Action, EU/NMP nanomagma project,NanoCode project under the Programme Capacities, inthe area Science in Society FP7…) and provides aninnovative platform for dissemination, transfer andtransformation of basic nanoscience knowledge,strengthening interdisciplinary research in nanoscienceand nanotechnology and catalysing collaboration amonginternational research groups.
The Foundation also works in close collaboration withSpanish and European Governmental Institutions toprovide focused reports on N&N related researchareas (infrastructure needs, emerging research, etc.).
The NanoSpain Network (coordinated by the PhantomsFoundation and the Spanish National Research Council,CSIC) scheme aims to promote Spanish science andresearch through a multi-national networking action andto stimulate commercial Nanotechnology applications.NanoSpain involves about 310 research groups andcompanies and more than 2000 researchers.
The Phantoms Foundation is also coordinator of theSpanish Nanotechnology Plan funded by ICEX (SpanishInstitute for Foreign Trade, www.icex.es) under theprogram España, Technology for Life, to enhance thepromotion in foreign markets of Spain’s more Innovativeand leading industrial technologies and products inorder to:
1. Represent the Scientific, Technological and Innovativeagents of the country as a whole.
2. Foster relationships with other markets/countries.3. Promote country culture of innovation.4. Better integrate the Spanish “Science - Technology -
Company - Society” system in other countries.5. Generate and develop scientif ic and technological
knowledge.6. Improve competitiveness and contribute to the
economic and social development of Spain.
The Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade ("InstitutoEspañol de Comercio Exterior”) is the SpanishGovernment agency serving Spanish companies topromote their exports and facilitate their internationalexpansion, assisted by the network of Spanish Embassy’sEconomic and Commercial Offices and, within Spain,by the Regional and Territorial Offices. It is part of theSpanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade("Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio").
