Catalysts Catalysts are substances which speed

up chemical reactions. At the end of the reaction, the catalyst is left unchanged.

substances which speed up chemical reaction

Catalysts lower the activation energy for both forward and reverse reactionS.They are very important for every segment in our life.

WHAT DO THEY D

O?

This means , the catalyst changes the reaction path by lowering its activation energy and the catalyst increases the rate of reaction.

Here is a picture demonstrating this.

EXAMPLESThis picture shows an

example of an uncatalyzed pathway

and a catalyzed pathway.The

uncatalyzed pathway,as demonstrated in the picture, has far more

energy than the catalyzed pathway.

Here is another picture showing an uncatalyzed substance and a catalyzed substance.clearly, the uncatalyzed substance requires more energy than the catalyzed one.

Catalysts make it easier for particles to react. With a catalyst,a lot more particles have enough energy to react.

A catalyst lowers the activation energy.

For example,Iron catalyst is used in manufacturing ammonia(Haber process)

IRON(Fe) AMMONIA (NH3)

ENZYMESEnzymes are biological catalysts. An enzyme is a large protein molecule.

ENZYMES DON’T WORK AT HIGH TEMPERATURES.THEIR SHAPES CHANGE AT HIGH TEMPERATURES AND THEY BECOMES DENATURED.

ENYMES DURING DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES!

AND THAT’S EVERYTHING,THANK YOU!

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE CONTENT!

Once again,THANK YOU!
