Lysosomes
Lysosomes are single membraneenclosed sacs of digestive enzymes that the cell uses to digest large molecules and cell parts found in the cytoplasm. They can sometimes be referred to as “suicide sacs” because they can kill the cell itself by bursting open and the juices will destroy the cell itself.

Mitochondria
The mitochondria is a double membrane bound organelle often referred to as the “powerhouse” of the cell because it is the site of cellular respiration.

Cytoskeleton
The cytoskeleton provides support for the cell and it is made up of:
1) microtubules2) intermediate filaments3) microfilaments

Centrioles
Centrioles are found as pairs near the nuclei of animal cells only. They play a role in cell division (spindle fibers) to act to pull/ guide the chromosomes to opposite poles.

Chloroplast
The chloroplast is a double membrane bound organelle only found in a plant cell and its sole purpose is to make photosynthesis possible with a pigment called chlorophyll.

Cell Wall
The cell wall surrounds the plant cell providing structure, protection and support. It is composed of cellulose.
Some plants have a secondary cell wall which provides extra strength and support this explains why a cornstalk can hold many ears of corn without toppling over.
