A proposal log is a journal in which you should write

two or three times a week about some aspect ofyour thesis or dissertation proposal.

Example: Entries in a proposal log

been dealt with in your text-partners.

Focus on the following possibilities:

Locating a gap in the literature.

Finding an idea that is generallyacknowledged to be true but it has not

been established definitively.

Considering an idea that people may

think is true but that may not actually be

Focusing on an unsatisfying condition

or problem that needs to be remedied.

Step 2. Figure out a problem that has not
