Leaders attitude and behavior can be divided into two groups:

• Task related attitude and behavior• Relationship oriented Attitude and Behavior

360 DEGREE FEEDBACK FOR FINE TUNING A LEADERSHIP

APPROACH• In the majority of large

organizations, leaders not only provide feedback to group members, they also receive feedback that gives them insight into the efficiency of their attitudes and behaviors.

• 360 degree feedback is a formal evaluation of superiors based on input from people who work for and with them. It is also referred as multi-rater feedback.

• Participative leaders share decision making with group members.

• Participative leadership encompasses so many behaviors that it can be divided into three types:

Leadership Grid Styles• Leadership Grid is a framework for simultaneously

specifying concern for the production and people dimensions of leadership. It is based on the extent of a persons concern for production and people.

• Leadership Grid are as follows: Authority- Compliance

Country Club ManagementImpoverished ManagementMiddle of the Road ManagementTeam Management

Entrepreneurial Leadership• Qualities of an entrepreneurial leadership are:1. Strong achievement drive and sensible risk taking2. High degree of enthusiasm and creativity3. Tendency to act quickly when opportunity arises4. Visionary perspective5. Eye on the future6. Preference of dealing with external customers

Choosing Leadership style to fit the situationConsider being participative under these conditions

Leader/Manager

Has limited power and limited authority to use it

Needs input from valuable employees

Has few existing time pressures

Group membersExpect to have some control over methods used

Like the system, but not authority

Possess relatively scarce skills

Work situationEncourage consensus building

Involves shared responsibly for control

Consider Being Autocratic Under these Conditions

Leader/manager Has a way of saving matters in an emergency

Has some unique knowledge useful to the group

Is firmly entrenched in his or her position

Are autocrats themselves
