CHAPTER IV

CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

A. Conclusion

Based on the discussion, there are some conclusions that can be drawn. The

conclusions are:

1. The Teaching Vocabulary Process Using Video

The process of teaching English vocabulary using video consists of some

activities as follows:

1. Warming up. It includes greeting and giving the students simple

background about the material.

2. Presentation strategies. The writer introduced and explained the

material by using video.

3. Assessment. The exercises that the writer gave to the students are

individual activity.

4. Summing up. The writer reminded the material by repeating the

material.

5. Closing. The writer gave suggestion and advice to finish the lesson.

6. Skill practice. It includes listening, speaking, reading and writing

skill.

7. Curriculum. The curriculum of English subject for SD N 1 Bowan

is KTSP curriculum.

8. Material. The material of teaching English vocabulary is taken

from Kreatif Berbahasa Inggris an English Book For Elementary

Schools written by Dra. Ryryn Purwanti HR., M.B.A., Dra.

Indriasrini L., Drs. Muchson Roji, Drs. Siswanto, and Drs. Sugeng

Wahyudi. This book was published in Klaten by Saudara Offset.

2. The Advantages and Disadvantages of Teaching Vocabulary Using

Video

Advantages of teaching English vocabulary using video for Fourth Grade

students of SD N 1 Bowan are:

1. Helping the students to understand the vocabulary easily.

2. Helping the students to remember the vocabulary easily.

3. Improving the students’s vocabulary.

4. Adding the students’s knowledge.

5. Helping the students to pronounce the vocabulary correctly.

6. More interesting for students in learning English vocabulary.

Disadvantages of teaching English vocabulary using video for Fourth

Grade students of SD N 1 Bowan are:

1. It is difficult to find the videos which are appropriate with the students’s

interest and material.

2. It is difficult to manage the time if the video has long duration.

3. It is difficult to catch pronunciation from videos which have different

native speaker.

B. Suggestion

1. The English teacher in SD N 1 Bowan

The teacher should try to use video to explain the material for

students so that the students will be more interested in learning

English. The teacher should be able to find the video that appropriate

with students’ interest so the students enjoy the video and it will make

the students accept and understand the material more easily.

2. The students of English Diploma Program who take teaching subject

It is important for the students to know the role of teaching. A

teacher has to understand the students’ condition in order to know the

way to teach the students. The teacher also needs to be creative to

deliver the material, so that the goal of teaching learning process for

each material can be done well.
