DONETSK & LUGANSK OBLASTS DESCRIPTION Mining, chemical, metallurgical and engineering industries are

located in the region. Deposits of coal, rock salt, gypsum, cement raw materials, fluxes

and dolomite, granite, fire-resistant and refractory clays. Intensive field development, large concentration of industrial,

agricultural and transport infrastructure create the heaviest in Europe load on the environment.

SOURCES OF CHEMICAL POLLUTION RISKS Air pollution:

Accidental emissions of industrial enterprisesCombustion of ammunitionWork of heavy military equipment

Soil pollution: Leakage of fuel and lubricants in the fighting areas

Combustion of ammunitionWater logging as a result of mines flooding

Pollution of surface water sources:• Accidental discharges of industrial enterprises

Risk of tailings dams destructionLeaking of fuel and lubricants in the combat areasCombustion of ammunitionWater logging as a result of mines flooding
