• The culture of the Mapuche people in southern Chile can be seen in their customs, handicrafts, traditional dress, and festivals.

• The Mapuches of central Chile successfully stopped the southern expansion of the Inca Empire at the Rio Maule. They are also known for their bravery in the struggle against Spanish and Chilean forces from the early 1500s to the 1800s

• Chilean artist that gained international fame for this painting, The Founding of Santiago.
