The poor have a privileged place in the gospel. In a world deeply scarred by injustice and inhuman living conditions, we are called to give preferential service to the poor. Recognizing that the human heart is at the root of all oppressive structures and systems, we struggle against sinfulness in our own lives; and in whatever situation we are, we stand for justice, freedom and peace. In these efforts, we follow the teaching of the gospel to strive to overcome evil with good.

Los pobres tienen un lugar privilegiado en el evangelio. En un mundo profundamente lastimado por la injusticia y condiciones de vida inhumanas, estamos llamados a dar servicio preferencial a los pobres. Reconociendo que el corazón humano es la raíz de todas las estructuras y sistemas opresivos, luchamos contra el pecado en nuestras vidas; y en cualquier situación que nos encontremos, estamos a favor de la justicia, la libertad y la paz. En estos esfuerzos, seguimos la enseñanza del evangelio para esforzarnos en vencer al mal con bien.

Our recognition of the dignity and intrinsic value of the human person is more important than any material help we can give. Our solidarity with the poor requires that we work not only for them but with them, learning from their real needs and aspirations. We encourage them to use their own initiative and resources so that gradually they better their living conditions and become ready to help others. (112.1 Constitutions)

Nuestro reconocimiento de la dignidad y valor intrínseco de la persona humana es más importante que ninguna ayuda material que podamos darle. Nuestra solidaridad con los pobres requiere que trabajemos no solo por ellos sino con ellos, aprendiendo de sus necesidades reales y aspiraciones. Los animamos a usar su propia iniciativa y recuros para que gradualmente mejoren sus condiciones de vida y estén listos para ayudar a otros. (112.1 Constituciones)

In our efforts to combat hunger, ignorance and the denial of human rights, we follow Catholic social teaching and directives of the local church. Social problems are to be found in all parts of the world. Therefore, wherever we are, we endeavor to develop an informed social conscience, so that we and others will recognize our Christian responsibility for social justice. (112.2 Constitutions)

En nuestros esfuerzos para combatir el hambre, la ignorancia y la negación de los derechos humanos, seguimos las enseñanzas sociales Católicas y las directivas de la iglesia local. Los problemas Sociales van a encontrarse en todas partes del mundo. Por lo tanto, donde quiera que nos encontremos, nos esforzamos por desarrollar una conciencia social informada, para que tanto nosotros como los demás reconzcamos nuestra responsabilidad Cristiana por la justicia social. World events and our contact with others stimulate our dialogue with the Lord. To him we bring the concerns of the Church together with the anguish and needs of the world. In this way, our prayer is imbued with an apostolic spirit and our apostolic activity by a spirit of prayer. (412 Constitutions)

Más bien, es una perspectiva dinámicaque informa tanto a nuestro ser como a nuestro

hacer. Esta perspectiva le da forma a nuestra oración,

nuestra vida en común, nuestra vida de los votos -- todo lo que hacemos.

Everyone, in every form of life,

has the opportunity – and responsibility –

to help make the world more just and peaceful,

to help create another possible world.

Todos, en toda forma de vida, tienen la oportunidad – y la responsabilidad –

de ayudar a hacer el mundo más justo y pacífico,

de ayudar a crear otro mundo posible.
