IMPORTANCE OF PUBLISHING IN CIJ

1) REQUIREMENT FOR GRADUATION

2) REQUIREMENT FOR JOURNAL PUBLICATION FUND

• Within UPM context, any journal indexed in

Scopus and Incites JCR is considered CIJ.

• These two databases are subscribed by UPM

Library

• Both are systematic, objective means to

evaluate the world’s leading scientific and

scholarly journals:

CiteScore (Scopus)/Impact factor (Incites

JCR) and journal ranking.

UPM only recognized journal ranking from Incites JCR

Scopus

- Largest abstract and citation database published by Elsevier

- Peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings.

- Subject coverage : science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities

Incites JCR

• Journal Citation Reports (JCR) is published by Clarivate Analytics

• Systematic, objective means to evaluate the world’s leading scientific and scholarly journals

• Includes: 11,000+ indexed journals, nearly 250 disciplines , 81 countries, 2.2 million articles, reviews, and other source items

• JCR covers journals indexed in the "Science Citation Index Expanded" (SCI) and the "Social Sciences Citation Index" (SSCI), the 2 journal citation indexes in "Web of Science" (WoS)

- does not provide citation figures for journals indexed in the "Arts and Humanities Citation Index" (A&HCI).

1. Access library website (www.lib.upm.edu.my)

2.Login to EZproxy

3. Username: Matric / Staff No.

4. Password: IC / Passport No.

5. Click “Login”

6. Click ‘S’ or Subscribed Database

7. Choose “Scopus”

8. Click on SOURCES to search journal

9. Choose SUBJECT AREA: for searching journal based on subject

category 10. Use TITLE:for searching specific journal based on journal

1. Type journal title and click button search

2. Choose the selected journal.

3. Click COMPARE SOURCE to make comparison with other journals in

term of CiteSCore, citation etc

4. Type journal title

5. Choose subject category and click button search on the right

6. List of journal title that match with selected journal will appear

8. Journals are ranked by CiteScore and journals with the highest CiteScore

will appear at the top.

9. Choose up to 10 journals to analyze and compare

1. Choose desired subject area and click APPLY button

2. All journal titles under this subject area will be retrieved

3. If you are interested to publish your paper in any chosen journal, click on

journal name

4. Click on JOURNAL HOMEPAGE button

5. Click on SUBMITTING A MANUSCRIPT to submit your paper

Publishing with Elsevier

1. Scroll down the Elsevier website, and click on SUBMIT YOUR PAPER

1. Access library website (www.lib.upm.edu.my)

2.Login to EZproxy

3. Username: Matric / Staff No.

4. Password: IC / Passport No.

5. Click “Login”

6. Click ‘J’ or Subscribed Database

7. Click Browse by Journal

8. Use Master Search or Select Journals columns : for searching specific

journal based on journal title/ISSN

9. Use Select categories column : for searching journal based on subject category

10. Type your desired journal in the master search box or “Select Journals” tab in

the "Go to Journal Profile" area to find a particular journal and view the citation

and impact values of this journal.

11. Select JCR Year and select preferred edition either SCIE or SSCI and click

“Submit” button at the bottom

13. Impact Factor (IF) is the average number of times articles from the journal

published in the past two years have been cited in the reference year.

15. Clink on RANK tab

16. QUARTILE:

Q1 denotes the highest position in this category and is among the top 25% of the IF

distribution.

Q2 denotes a middle-high position between top 50% and top 25% of the IF distribution.

Q3 denotes a middle-low position (top 75% to top 50%).

Q4 bottom position (bottom 25% of the IF distribution).

15. Use “Select Categories” tab if you want to search and identify top or

influential journals within a subject discipline

16. Select JCR Year and select preferred edition either SCIE or SSCI and click

“Submit” button at the bottom

17. Journals are ranked by Impact Factor by default and journals with the highest

impact factors will appear at the top.
