Prof Dodge Wins In OA R Conteste Last weeks Citizen contained the picture of Le Vant Dodge who hasthirtytwoyanrsoh the Carnegie allowance for long and meritorious service Our last

Issue spoke of the struggle going on in the Department of Ky G A Rbetween those who have dominated its officers lor years and the Comradeswho demanded change in the administration with ring rule made a thingof the past We said that Prof Dodge ia without doubt the best qualifiedman in the State for the State Commandership Tha choice of thedelegates to the State Encampment has justified our view At that time theDepartment Encampment was in nminn at TrmlnrillfiL We wenUopreSrtoo soon to announce the result The fight waa tha most notable one intho history of the Department The previous organization of the oppos ¬

ing forces was complete The interest in the campaign for the Comuiandonhip brought out an attendance of delegates twice as greetaa some ¬

times appears and sixty five in excess of the largest previous encampmentProf was Col Thos Sheehaja of LouisvillenltbusiamMany papers of tho state had published paragraphs Btatingttwthkelactionwas generally conceded Col T A Fabro of ClintoaCo also had been early

announced as a candidate and until tho last seemed to have hopes of suecess But the issue between the other candidates was so overshadowing thatin tho final test ho showed up but fifteen votes It is believed that mostof these would have gone to Prof Dodge had a second ballot been needed

Tho careful canvass of Credentials by the Committee to determine whowere legal members of the encampment and the election of the leadingofficers occupied nearly one entire day The interest WM to the high ¬

est pitch aud became excitement There were several sensational scenes j

and at one time a suspension of the ballot to correct mistakes The resultwas the election of Prof Dodge on the first ballot by a clear majority of

fortyTho installation of the new officers took place during the seasion and was the occasion of groat enthusiasm Department CommanderDodge promised to do largo work toward building up the order takingfor his motto Improvement always reform when necessary Ho saidthat in the matter of staff appointments ho was entirely uatrammeled andthat every comrade would be treated as a friend Those who hadfavoredother candidates promised the most hearty cooperation sad theclosing hour of the encampment seemed a veritable love feast

On Prof Dodges return to Berca after his victory at Louisville he hada triumphal welcome The college band met him at the irala and he andMrs Dodge were brought to their home in a carriage drawn by collegestudents preceded by the band Friends had provided barrel of finelemonade and he hold n reception on his lawn to many who game to con-
