"We have given the go signal for the constructionof phase one of the modern Clark Green City in

Capas, Tarlac, that will certainly serve as a centerfor commerce and industry, not only of Central

Luzon, but also of the entire country. At the endof the day, our vision for Clark Green City is thatit becomes even bigger than the Bonifacio Global

City. Formerly isolated places will now becomeareas teeming with opportunity."

State of the Nation Address 2014His Excellency Benigno S. Aquino III

President of the Philippines

Shaping The Philippines’ Future

The Philippines - A “Rising Star”Asian Development Bank latest report, Philippines’ GDP Growth is forecasted to grow at6.2% in 2014 and will maintain to grow at 6.4% in 2015. In Moody’s Analytics (a sisterunit of credit watcher Moody’s Investor Service) “Asia-Pacific Outlook 2014: RealizingPotential,” Report - described the Philippines as a “rising star,” saying that if favorableeconomic trends continue, the growth rate for the country could reach 8% by 2016.

It all started with the government encouraging local and foreign investments with its“2011-2016 Development Plans” that provides a five-year blueprint for growth andinstitutes transparency, predictability and accountability. Business confidence is nowhigh, and investment (both public and private) is driving the Philippine economyforward, the report says.

Of late, Moody’s, Fitch and Standard and Poor’s (three major credit ratings agencies inthe world) have upgraded Philippine to investment grade status, which means thegovernment will be able to borrow funds for programs and projects at lower interestrates, more businesses will be attracted to invest in the country.

Many business observers have credited that one of the key contributors to this “risingstar” status is the emphasis on the accelerating of infrastructure development, put inplace by the government.

Accelerating Infrastructure DevelopmentWith the close coordination of several government departments and agencies namelythe Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC), Department of PublicWorks and Highways (DPWH), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA)- Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) had conducted a detailed study andconceptualized a USD58-billion blueprint“Roadmap for Transport InfrastructureDevelopment for Metro Manila”, which includes- 5 new towns to house 1.2 million households,- quality roads (641 km) with intelligent transport systems,- north south (91 km) commuter rail systems,- mega manila subway (75 km) project,- new NAIA project at Sangley Point,- new offshore Economic Zone and- new seaport. The project when completed will expand the multimodal public transport network andstrengthen traffic management systems.

EXHIBITOR BENEFITS* meet buyers * product demo * market survey * appoint agents and distributors * launch yourlatest products * establish contacts * assess the competitiveness * project tender * project update

Green & Smart City - The Subic Base in Clark, previously occupied bythe US Army, will be converted to a Green City by the Bases ConversionAnd Development Authority (BCDA). It will be bigger than the BonifacioGlobal City and will be complete with green & smart buildings and residen-tial estates, with clean & renewable energy, smart power grid and smarttransport systems for green living, with several Special Economic Zonessurrounding it. Foreign investors will be given tax incentives.

- City Infrastructure Philippines 2015 is supportedby the National Economic And Development Authority (NEDA) of the Republic of the Philippines. Itcovers five important infrastructure sectors.

Highway Infrastructure - The DPWH is upgrading and rehabilitatingall existing bridges, roads and highways and as well for newly constructedones to be of high standard to minimize O & M. Creative construction, special techniques and better equipped, special tools and equipment will beused to expedite early completions of infrastructure projects are some ofthe products and services the show will present.

Rail Infrastructure – In the very near future, the Philippines commut-ers will travel more by rail than by jeepneys as the Authority is increasingthe construction of railway tracks and stations throughout the city. Severalnew rail infrastructure projects have been awarded and more are in thepipeline. High speed trains will be the new norm for intercity travel, as plansare also in place to build bullet trains in the Philippines.

Underground & Drainage Infrastructure – Flooding causes un-necessary inconveniences for everyone, especially for businesses. No cityis complete without proper underground drainage systems to drain floodwater away to prevent and minimize flooding. The Philippines is determinedto arrest this issue with the construction of more underground drainagesystems with the use of tunneling and Trenchless Technology to speed upconstruction with minimum disruption to daily life.

Logistics Infrastructure– Recent surge in business environment hasincreased impex activities, with high volume cargoes stuck in the terminals,a logistics nightmare. Rehab and upgrading with intermodal centers andtrains to the distribution points is much needed, otherwise the wholeeconomy will stand still. As of now, due deliveries of cargoes have not metschedules. And the authorities are determined to arrest these problemsimmediately with better logistics infrastructure.
