The City of Santee Teen Center is an after school and summer break drop-in recreation program for adolescents and teens in grades 6th - 12th (up to 17 years old).
It’s ideal for young people who want to make new friends, have fun and learn new skills. At the Teen Center, teens are free to socialize, play games, orutilize the Cox Communications tech center to do homework.
Supervised activitiesA different activity, one indoor and one outdoors, is scheduled each day. Example: one day there’s a flag football game and a ping pong tournament, the next day its outdoor hockey and cooking creations.
Professional staffThe Teen Center is staffed by City of Santee employees who are certified in first aid and CPR and have passed a department of justice background check. Our low staff to participant ratio offers a safe, well-supervised experience and personal connection with each teen.
After-school transportation The city of Santee, in conjunction with the Santee School District, offers after school bus transportation during the school year to the Santee Teen Center at the Lakes for students in grades 6th-8th. The Teen Center is open every day after school including an adjusted schedule on Santee School District modified days. Transportation is only $10 per week. Registration must be submitted by the Monday prior to enrollment date and is accepted at Santee City Hall or at the Santee Teen Center at the Lakes. Contact Community Services at (619) 258-4100 ext. 222 for more information.
Nurturing young leadersHigh school students can participate in a leadership program in which they mentor younger teens. Middle school students can learn leadership skills by participating in the Street Team Youth Advisory Committee Annual membership fee Just $20 for Santee residents and $30 for non-residents or $3 per day.
