17th January 2013 Cooking Club This week saw the start of ‘Let’s Get Cooking Club’, with five mums and their children joining Mrs Ellis and Mrs Jolly in a shared cooking experience. Over the next five weeks, they will be cooking a range of healthy main meals and taking them home for their teas. On the menu this week was a sausage and mixed bean hotpot and corn bread. The session proved a big hit with Ria and Cara with their mum tweeting "we loved it thank you so much! Hearty family meal tonight, girls so pleased with themselves."

Choir Choir will be starting next week on Tuesday lunchtime. Children from Class 2 & 3 are welcome to come along from 12.30-1.00pm with Miss Scholey and Mrs Callaghan. Foundation Stage In Foundation stage we have changed our role play area into a fairytale castle. The children were exploring what it would be like in a castle, how they were used and even deciding what characters would be in the castle.

Class 1 The children have been starting to look closely at the diversity in the school grounds. Each child has “adopted” a tree and is creating an information book about their tree including things such as bark rubbings and measurements. They will continue to add to their books over the next few weeks and the books will form the basis of a display.

Class 2 This week in Class 2 we have been looking at our new science topic; keeping warm. We took the opportunity of the great weather outside to do our practical experiments. We pretended we were stuck outside during a snowstorm and measured the temperature of a chilly Horbury morning. We then decided that the best way to be rescued would be to keep warm and visible inside a survival tent. Thankfully, Mrs Stearne was there to save us.

Class 3 Class 3 children have been debating whether chocolate should be allowed in schools or not. Despite there being differing opinions, we then went on to look at how to write a balanced argument. The children thoroughly enjoyed expressing their views through the use of drama and debating.
