• 2 years of PE/Athletics are required in middle school.

• PE provides an overview of several sports & activities like: bowling, soccer & basketball.

• Athletics offers the opportunity to compete against other schools in: cross country, track, basketball & volleyball (for girls) & football (for boys).

PE vs. Athletics

• Students must commit to Athletics for the entire school year.

• Requires that students dress out in an RMS athletic uniform & appropriate shoes EVERY day.

• For students who like to compete & work hard EVERY day. Think of athletics as PreAP PE. The expectations and activities are intense.

• If you do not make a team, you will be in “off season” athletics (lots of running and conditioning).

• It is 1st period for 7th grade:

– 7:00 a.m. for football and cross country

– 7:30 a.m. for volleyball, basketball & track

• Soccer is not part of Athletics - tryouts for boys and girls soccer is in the spring and practice for both 7th and 8th grade is after school.
