For Results: Your Approach May Be the Key
Senior Year: 1st Semester
SeptemberRequest applications for colleges and universities that you are interested in &
ensure that you have all the required admission and financial aid applications. Register for the October/November SAT or ACT If the colleges require letters of recommendation, ask the appropriate people to
write one on your behalf. Include the recommendation form, any special instructions, and a stamped, addressed business envelope.
Plan to visit colleges and set up interviews with admissions counselors.
October Mail applications in time to reach the colleges by the deadlines, check the college
application data base (posted on the guidance counter) to check when your app has been sent to the colleges to which you are applying.
If applying for early decision, send in your application now. Register for the Dec/Jan SAT or ACT if you have not taken them already or if you
are unhappy with your scores, have the official scores sent to colleges on your list.
Senior Year: 1st Semester Continues
November Take the SAT / ACT if appropriate If you need financial aid, obtain a FAFSA form from the guidance office. Also check
with the colleges to which you are applying in case they require any other forms Continue applying to colleges Keep all records, copies of test score reports and college applications until your second
year of college Be sure your first quarter grades are good! Colleges will consider these grades for
admission
December Have official test scores sent to colleges on your list if you have not done so File your last college applications If you applied for early decision, you should have an answer by now. If accepted,
follow the instructions for admitted students. If the decision is deferred or denied continue applying for other colleges.
January Notification of Acceptances start Update your info on the Guidance Counter College Data Base This enables you to be considered for special programs & scholarships

COMMON MISTAKES on College Application Transcript Request Form
No Envelope; no Stamps
No Address
No Return Address
Incomplete Address: ADMISSIONS OFFICE NAME OF UNIVERSITY
COMPLETE/CORRECT STREET ADDRESS; ETC. YOUR RETURN ADDRESS
Student fails to write specific Admissions Address on the form itself
LET’S AVOID THE FOLLOWING
Story of College X last yearParent calls me 5/20/14 “College X has not received a transcript”
“College X want you to fax it”This is my BUSIEST time of the year
I then fax itGA “Sent the transcript out 3/21” (ONE day after I received the request form)GA Calls College X Admissions
Representative (rep) say they are meticulous & that (rep) enters & knows (rep) did not enter. I concur 100%.
BUT I know it has been sent … so WHERE is it?
(Rep) asks me where it was sent & I giver (rep) the address from my College Application & Transcript Request Form completed by the student ..... the address that the STUDENT listed was not the address that the admissions (rep) gave me.
Here are the problems:1- College X - why did it not get forwarded from the “other” office to admissions2- Student - was there a return address on the envelope?3- Student - Why did you not give the complete address & the correct address
A- You did not write Admissions Dept.B- You had incorrect address
4- Major is Nursing - student did not get admitted since that program has deadline ..... and competitive admission

Those students who submit a complete application, including transcripts and test scores, by November 30 will have the best chance of admission to their first choice campus and/or major and will receive an admission decision no later than January 31 (with the exception of a few programs that notify applicants at a later date). Applying after November 30, while acceptable, may limit your campus and major choices.
While you can apply after November 30 for most programs, the following programs require the receipt of a complete application by November 30: Accelerated Premedical-Medical; Nursing.
