Dear Parents, Last week we had Clean Up Australia Day which was a great success. The children have really taken the task of being responsible for their packaging seriously. As a result we had very little rubbish to collect compared to previous years. Thank you to Miss Hagedoorn for co-ordinating this whole school activity. Well done Colo Vale! This week we had the Annual P&C AGM where new Officeholders were elected. Mia Macmurray has passed the reins to Kristy Sorouni who is our new P&C President. I thank Mia for her hard work on the P&C over the past couple of years and the support that has been offered to me as I settled in as the new Principal of Colo Vale Public School. I warmly welcome Kristy as the new President and look forward to working with her. Other Office Holders were also appointed. These will be published in the next newsletter. Staff and students have enjoyed our Wellbeing week this week. We have decided to make Wellbeing Week in Week 6 of each term to bring some continuity to the practice of resting, connecting and rejuvenating. Being kind to yourself is never a wasted endeavour. The children have most probably told you about the newest member of our staff. Her name is Rosie and she is a three year old King Charles Cavalier. She will be coming to school on Tuesday and Thursday each week as part of ‘Project Paws’ where she will be used to calm fears, relieve anxiety and support student’s psychological and emotional development.
Parents will receive an information pack regarding the use of dogs in school and a
questionnaire to complete to assist us in best placing Rosie in our school context. This
endeavour is fully supported by the Department of Education and all appropriate Risk
assessments and checks have been completed.
Wishing you a Happy Wellbeing Week
Kind Regards
Nina Culleton

5/6W, along with their stage partners 5/6M have launched right into
the Choose Kind movement that was initiated by RJ Palacio’s book WONDER. In Visual Arts, we are working with the whole WONDER theme. We have created works of art based on portraits, learning to appreciate artistic styles of the past. We are also working hard to CHOOSE KIND in all that we do and say. Today we are sharing some of our portrait work based on the Cubist artist Pablo Picasso, along with our WONDER self portraits.
Hands up if you’ve done a great job? Our school looks terrific! Clean Up Day Colo Vale
