Another Page Turns...This month has brought many changes
as we said goodbye to our friends and “family” in Mbale and headed back to the States. Our six months in Uganda flew by so fast; it almost feels like it was all a dream. However, we are very confident that it was not a dream.
We did a lot of learning this past semester and feel like we have more learning to come than we had before. Learning keeps us humble, though, so we a r e c o n t i n u a l l y g r a t e f u l f o r t h e opportunities.
Once we got back to the States, we had a lot of hellos and hugs as we greeted family and friends that we had missed over the past six months. What a sweet reunion to get to see loved ones once again. We loved being to spend two weeks with both sides of the family. It was great to see mom,
dad, and grandma in North/South Carolina and to get to help out with their Bed and Breakfast. After visiting my parents, we headed to Colorado, where we enjoyed great times with Vince’s family.
Now we have said goodbyes once again and are settling into our own home in Joplin, MO. It is nice to be in a place we can call our own for a while. God has blessed us with a wonderful place to stay free of charge, which is such a huge gift to us. Along with the blessing of the house, we have enjoyed catching up with friends and have gotten to relax before school starts. Next week will bring changes once again as we get used to the routine of school and work again. This will be our last semester at Ozark Christian College, so we are trying make time to enjoy it. Vince will be taking a little larger school load, but he is also going to be working less outside of school work, which is great.
After we graduate, we hope to head back to Mbale as soon as possible. Our desire would be to go in August or September, but we have to see if that is God’s plan too, or just our own. We know God’s timing is always better, so we are trying to keep an open mind and be flexible to His plan.
The last seven months has brought changes, and we are thankful for them all. We look forward to seeing what happens next as another page turns in our lives.

Harmony House Bed & BreakfastMy mom and dad purchased a bed and breakfast while we were in Africa. It is gorgeous. We were thrilled to be able to help out with a new website and other things, so here is a little promo for them. Should you ever be in the Carolinas, you should see about staying there. HolidaysThe holidays are always times of great
memories in my mind. This year has added many new ones as we celebrated holidays all over the world.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with our “family” in Uganda. There were probably about 20 or 30 of us seated around a table enjoying the blessings God had provided. We had the extra blessing of Vince’s mom being with us.
Christmas was celebrated with my family in South Carolina and Vince’s family in Colorado. Between al l t he di f ferent gather ings I t h ink we had about 4 Christmases. All of them were wonderful times with lots of love and laughter.
Veronica’s Visit to MbaleA few weeks before we left Mbale, we
were thrilled to have Veronica, Vince’s mom, come and visit us. It was so much fun to show her around and let her see what we were doing. We wanter her to be able to put actual faces to names and be able to relate to us a little more. Her time was way too short, in our
thinking, but it was so good to see her and show her things.
While she was with us, Messiah Theological Institute in Mbale had its graduation, and together we were able to cheer on the biggest graduating class in the history of the school. I was so proud as one of my Deaf friends walked across the stage receiving her diploma. Hopefully in years to come, I will be able to see more Deaf people walking across that stage as well.
Veronica’s visit was only a week long, but I think it was good for all of us for her to be there. Perhaps there will be more visits from more people in the future.
