The key question to ask is:

“Do I want these thoughts, feelings or behaviours?”

answer “no”, and take responsibility

take responsibility

you are responsible for managing your chimp

you can’t bully your chimp

make friends with your chimp, and it will start to listen to you

three techniques | one

allow the chimp to have its say

let the chimp say everything it wants to

you will feel better afterwards

and you can return to rational human conversation

three techniques | two

remember what your chimp says

deal with the chimp in a rational way

calm your chimp, and address its fears and concerns

ALTERNATIVES PERSPECTIVE PLUS …REALITY

is this actually true?

is there any evidence?

what else could this mean?

can I reframe this positively?

is it really so bad?

will it matter in five years time?

is this helping me perform?

what can I learn from this?
