Busy, busy, busy!
Wow, what a busy term we have had already, with plenty in the calendar of events coming up over the next 7
weeks. Please check the calendar regularly as we would hate you to miss out on anything.
Learn to swim
The program for the 3-6 students is now into its second week. Students have been well organised and making a
great effort in the pool. It is great to see how much they have improved since I saw them last year. The K-2
students started their water orientation program this week. So many schools do not have a program for K-2 so
we are so grateful to the parent volunteers who support this program and to the P&F who provide financial
support, to ensure that such an important life skill is offered to every child in the school. Due to these programs
operating in the middle of the day, learning and eating times have been altered. Please ensure that your child has a
good breakfast and a snack for the afternoon as swimming is hungry work!
Swimming Carnival
The Swimming Carnival will be held next Monday the 10th Nov at Cressy pool. Additional information will be sent
home this week including a selection of events to be completed by parents in consultation with their child. A
prompt reply will ensure that we are well organised on the day, thank you. Students will be expected to attend
school as usual in the morning, so that attendance can be recorded accurately.
School magazine
Our first school magazine is finally starting to take shape and I am excited at how wonderful it is going to be. If
you have not placed an order and would like a copy of this wonderful keepsake for your child/family, please contact
the office as soon as possible as we are unable to have any reprints made after the publication is submitted.
LSL
I will be on long service leave beginning the 10th Nov to the 17th Nov – returning on the 18th. I will also be
attending a Principal Forum held at Penguin on the Friday 21st Nov. Sharmane Jones will be Acting Principal during
my absence. Please continue to discuss any issues with your child’s teacher in the first instance.
Annette Strickland will also be taking LSL from the 12th Nov to the 21st Nov – returning on the 24th. We
welcome Louise Semmens who will be in the office during Annette’s absence. A reminder that if you have
received a text message from the school, it is from a private staff members phone as the school does not have a
mobile , so please ring the school as text messages will not be responded to.
Regards,
Sharryn Crothers
