Underlying Assumptions There are absolute truths based on the Bible.
The Spiritual domain not only intersects but is the central part of the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.
Man is created in the image of God.
Although all students are created by God, all are different, have different backgrounds, different needs, and different learning styles.
There is essential knowledge that should be mastered by the teacher and taught to the student.

Why and How is the program Biblically-based?
Every graduate of Welch College completes a Bible major
The purpose statement of Teacher Education includes the following:
Philosophically, the College and Teacher Education Department operate on the basis of belief that God created man as an innocent, spiritual being.
By transgression, humanity lost that innocence and became separated from God, needing the restoration that results from regeneration and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Thus the teacher education programs emphasize the need to address the spiritual, as well as the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical nature of man. Only the person who has experienced a restored spiritual relationship with the Creator can be truly prepared for successful living or service. In this way, the needs of the whole man are met.
