HARD ROCK TOOL AND STONE PRO PRESENT

CONCRETE POLISHINGMADE EASY

Can you make my concrete floor shiny?

• Most of your customers will ask if you can make their concrete shiny, not will you Polish my concrete?

• The answer is yes. In just four easy steps. Five if the customer wants it stained or dyed.

• The result of this process is what you see in Lowe’s, Home Depot and Costco locations across the country.

Do I have to buy expensive equipment?

• The answer is No.• Most carpet cleaners and other cleaning

companies already have the adequate equipment which can be utilized for the process being outlined on this presentation.

175 RPM MACHINE

HIGH SPEED BURNISHER 1500 RPM

WET DRY VACUUM

Are the materials I need expensive?

• No. The cost to do approximately 1000 sq.ft starts around $475.00.

• If you are going to stain or dye the cost will be an additional $100.00 to $200.00.

What is the typical charge per square foot?

• The industry standard for the four-step process is $2.00 to $2.50 sq.ft.

• Staining or dying is an additional $.75 to $1.00.

• A $475.00 to $650.00 investment will yield $2,000.00 to $3,500.00 in polished concrete.

What materials do I need for the 4- step process?

• Stone Pro 17” 200 grit Semi Metallic Diamond Flex Ring

• Stone Pro 17” 400 Grit resin DOT Pad

17” Adapter ring (Optional)

17” and 20” Hogs Hair Extreme pad

•SmartKrete Lithium Densifier (1 gallon = approx. 1000 sq.ft.)

SmartKrete-Smart Guard Polish & Stain Protector

2 to 4 Wet Microfiber Mop Heads and Swivel Handle

2 to 3 Chemical Resistant Sprayers

Acid Stain or Acetone Dye (optional)

Lets get started

1. Find water source.2. Identify power sources.3. Mask off surrounding areas.4. Sweep the area to be polished making sure

you don’t get any debris under your machine that will scratch the concrete.

Ready to polish

Step 1200 grit semi-metallic diamond ring dye/stain, densifier and

polishing prep1. Mount the Stone Pro 200 grit semi metallic diamond ring

to the adapter or 17” hogs hair extreme and place under the machine.

2. Apply a fair amount of water to the concrete and begin cutting.

3. Cross cut the concrete. Depending on the condition of the concrete you will make 15 to 30 passes.

4. Add water when finished and extract up.5. Let floor dry so you can properly see the concrete.6. You should see no swirls marks or scratches. If you do you

have more work to do before moving on.7. Added weight to your machine speeds up process.

Step 2Densify the concrete

• The use of a densifier is absolutely necessary to properly polish concrete.

• The lithium fills the micro-pits and pores which allows for full light reflection and hardens the concrete for better polishing.

1. From a sprayer, coat your microfiber mop.

2. Spray the concrete with a moderate coat of the densifier then mop evenly.

3. Allow floor to dry naturally. DO NOT use an air mover.

4. You are ready to proceed to next step 45 to 60 minutes after the concrete looks dry.

Optional StepAcetone Dying

• Dying or staining is an option process.

• If your customer wants this done, you will need to do this step right after the 200 semi Metallic diamond rings and before densifying.

1. Mask off well.2. Pour the contents from the

bottle into one gallon of acetone.

3. Begin spaying the dye into a bucket then move the spray onto the floor. This helps to prevent dripping.

4. Mop it as evenly as possible.5. Don’t be too concerned if the

color is not consistent. The 400 grit resin DOT pad will even out most of the inconsistencies.

6. You are now ready to densify.

Step 3400 grit DOT pad polish

1. Mount the 400 grit resin DOT pad to the adaptor or hogs hair extreme and place below your machine.

2. Cross cutting is no longer a must but does help consistency. Especially if the concrete is not even.

3. It will take 15 to 20 passes to get full color out of the concrete. Again added weight to your machine makes the process faster.

4. Add water and extract up. Let floor dry so you can properly see the concrete.

5. You should see no swirls marks or scratches. Continue grinding until swirls and scratch patterns are no longer visible.

6. You should have some reflectivity coming from the concrete.7. Once you are satisfied with the polish let the floor dry . The use of

an air mover is ok at this point.8. Make sure to clean up all residue prior to moving on to next step.

Applying the guard• What does the guard do?

– Provides an extremely high shine.

– Gives high quality reflective properties.

– Protects the concrete from ALL spills, including oils and acids.

– Adds slip resistance

1. From a sprayer apply the guard to your microfiber mop.

2. Put a very thin coat on the concrete. More is NOT better.

3. Let dry naturally. No air movers. Wait at least 60 – 90 minutes.

4. Place the 20” hogs hair extreme on your burnisher.

5. Burnish the concrete 4 to 6 passes.

6. Repeat steps 1 - 5

Additional options

PAINT OR MASTIC REMOVAL• Soy based stripers like Franmars Beanie-Do or

Soy-Gel• Mastic blades• Lower grit semi metallic diamond rings

Exposing aggregate

• Consist of three lower grit semi metallic diamond rings. 30, 50 and 100.

• A minimum of 100 pounds needs to be added to your machine.

• Time involved is at least tripled.

• An additional $2.50 to $3.00 sq.ft. needs to be charged.

Going to a higher natural polish with no guard

• This involves as many as higher resin DOT pads (800 and 1800) and a Stone Pro M3 DIP.

• Not near as time consuming as exposing aggregate but you still need to charge $.60 to $1.00 sq.ft. per step.

• If a guard is used there is no need to go higher than the 400 grit DOT pad.
