Older Windows 98 PCs needed to be upgraded
Production floor is a harsh environment
Security – Lock down production floor workstations
Central administration
Production running 2nd & 3rd shifts (one IT Mgr on 1st )
Reasons why we went with Thin Clients back in 2006 & continue to use them today
Wyse units were purchased for $320 each back in 2006 when the average business grade PC cost about $800
A Windows Terminal Services Server was used for both production floor terminals & remote user connectivity
Cost savings allowed us to upgrade production CRT monitors to flat panels (energy savings)
Going THIN on a Budget
Wyse V Series
Wyse CX0 Models

NEW – Use steps 1 through 5 EXISTING – Use Steps 1, 4& 5
1. Connect device (keyboard/mouse, monitor, network cable & power adapter)
2. Create a Windows AD User Account (same as the existing thin client
user accounts – a user template could be employed)
3. Create a new Wyse INI file (copy from existing INI)
4. Login with user account (i.e. SFO01 – generally the same as the device name).
5. This step is required if you are using station based printing such as EZRF label printing. Start unit and login using the “Wyse Admin” profile & change the device name at the Wyse unit (i.e. SFO01).
