Confocal Laser Microscopy at the MHH

How does a confocal microscope work?

Confocal Laser Microscopy at the MHH

What is the advantage of using a confocal laser scanning microscope?

• optical sectioning

• 3D-imageing

• x-z sectioning

• better resolution

• easy multi colour fluorescence

• advantages of laser scanning

• bleaching (FRAP, …)

• ROI scan (photoactivatable

fluorescent proteins)

• The laser microscopy facility is a S2 laboratory

• A cell culture with 2 safety hoods and 2 incubators

can be used to prepare your experiments.

• Computer with full versions of the microscope software

and 3d-imaging software are available

Additional facilities

Confocal Laser Microscopy at the MHH

How can I use the facility?1. Send an e-mail: konfokal@mh-hannover.

2. We will discuss your project.

3. A training session will instruct you

in microscope operation and laser safety.

Bring your own samples!

4. You can use the microscope on your own.

Reservation are made through WWW.

The facility is accessible 24 hr.

5. User will be charged with a user fee:

3-5 Euros per hr for MHH scientists.
